About our canvases

We print onto deep, wrapped canvases but we don’t often wrap our prints around the edge of them, unless they are photographic, and there is no appreciable loss to the picture’s focus. Our Ukiyo-e prints, however, we will not wrap the picture around the sides as this will detract from┬ásome of the effects that the original artist intended and vital elements such as signature panels etc which are often on the edge of the image. Instead, we clean up the edges of any print and leave the rest of the canvas white. We think this gives the best effect.

Our print files are very high resolution so they print well, without visible pixelation, even in our largest sizes.

Why are some prints only available on certain products?

Perhaps you’ve noticed that not all prints are available on all products. That is dependent on the size (resolution) of the file that we have to hand. A small file might look great on a computer screen, but when you blow it up to fit a 30×40 inch canvas, it starts to look a lot less good. At Epic Japan Art, we only like to bring you the best quality prints, which means until we find a better quality file, that print will be restricted to smaller files like phone covers or smaller posters.

We are expanding our ranges and getting better quality files all the time, however, so keep an eye out for new lines added!
